What Is Pantone Color? History, Why Pantone Exists and Comparison: RGB vs CMYK vs Pantone

What is PANTONE Colour

Pantone color refers to a standardized color system developed by Pantone called the Pantone Matching System (PMS). Instead of describing a color vaguely as “dark blue” or “bright red,” Pantone gives each color a specific code, such as Pantone 186 C or Pantone 300 U.

This allows designers, printers, manufacturers, and brands around the world to reproduce the exact same color consistently, regardless of location, printer, or material.
FIND YOUR PANTONE >>

History of Pantone

Pantone began in the 1950s as a small commercial printing company in Carlstadt. In 1956, a young employee named Lawrence Herbert joined the company and used his chemistry knowledge to organize pigments and ink formulas.
At that time, printers had no universal way to match colors. Designers, clients, and printers often relied on verbal descriptions or physical samples, leading to inconsistent results.

In 1962, Lawrence Herbert bought the company, and in 1963 he introduced the Pantone Matching System. The original system used a small number of base pigments that could be mixed in precise ratios to create repeatable colors.

Why Pantone Exists

Pantone was created to solve one major problem: color inconsistency. Before Pantone, a company might ask for “bright red,” but every printer could produce a different shade. A logo printed in one country could look darker, lighter, or more orange in another country.

Pantone created a universal “language of color,” where everyone can refer to the same numbered shade. For example, if a designer specifies Pantone 186 C, printers and manufacturers know exactly which red to produce.

Why Pantone Is Important

Pantone is important because color consistency is essential for branding, manufacturing, and product quality. For example:
  • A brand’s logo color must remain the same across packaging, brochures, websites, uniforms, and exhibition booths.
  • Large companies operating in multiple countries need identical colors on every product.
  • Certain colors such as metallics, neon, and fluorescents cannot be reproduced accurately with normal CMYK printing.
  • Pantone helps avoid expensive mistakes in printing and manufacturing.
Many famous brands use Pantone references to maintain exact brand colors, including Coca-Cola red, Tiffany & Co. blue, and McDonald's yellow. Pantone colors are even used in flags, uniforms, automotive paint, and government standards.

My Final Take and 2Cents

AI tools are no longer optional for modern businesses and content creators. If utilize properly the use of Ai Tools, they can save time, assist on repetitive task, reduce cost, and help people produce more content faster.

However, AI should be treated as an assistant, not a replacement for human skills. The best results happen when humans use AI wisely while still maintaining creativity, originality, emotion, and strategic thinking.

In the future, people who know how to work together with AI tools will have a major advantage over those who ignore them completely.

AI is not here to replace humans. AI is here to help humans become more productive, creative, and efficient. unless some fellow mess up and "Wake" the Skynet Mode... Joking

So, if you want to stay ahead of AI and outperform it, can you create something that a CPU or GPU cannot replicate?

History of Paper Invention

Paper was first developed in ancient China. Early forms existed before the 2nd century BCE, but the Chinese court official Cai Lun is traditionally credited with refining papermaking around 105 CE. He improved the process using tree bark, hemp, old rags, and fishing nets, making paper cheaper and easier to produce than bamboo slips or silk. Paper technology later spread to the Islamic world, then to Europe, eventually becoming one of the most important inventions in human history.

History of Paper Sizes

Modern paper sizes are largely based on the ISO 216 standard, which uses the A, B, and C series. The concept began in 1786 when German scientist Georg Christoph Lichtenberg proposed a paper ratio of 1:√2, which keeps the same proportions when folded in half. Germany later standardized this as DIN 476 in 1922, and it eventually became the international ISO 216 standard in 1975. A4 became the most widely used paper size globally.

My Final Take and 2Cents

Although digital media dominates modern communication through websites, social media, online advertising, and mobile devices, paper still offers advantages that digital platforms cannot fully replace. Printed materials provide a physical experience, stronger brand presence, and higher perceived value. Packaging, catalogues, brochures, menus, business cards, and premium printed materials often create a more lasting impression than digital visuals alone.

Today, paper and digital media work together rather than compete against each other. Businesses commonly use digital platforms for speed, convenience, and global reach, while paper remains valuable for branding, packaging, retail displays, printed marketing materials, and face-to-face communication. As a result, understanding paper sizes, materials, and their applications remains highly relevant in the current world.

List of SME Grant providers in Malaysia >>

Picture

Step-by-Step Strategy to Secure RM50K – RM500K Funding

If you're running a small or medium-sized business (SME) in Malaysia, government grants can significantly accelerate your growth. However, most businesses fail—not because they are not eligible—but because they apply without a clear strategy.

This guide breaks down a practical, step-by-step approach to help you secure SME grants and scale your business effectively.

Phase 1: Position Your Business for Approval

Before applying for any grant, you need to position your business correctly.

Most SMEs describe themselves too simply: “We are a printing or display supplier.”
Instead, reframe your business as: “A digital-driven exhibition and retail visual solutions provider.”

Why this matters:
Agencies like Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation prioritize companies that demonstrate:
  • Digital adoption
  • Scalability
  • Export potential

What You Need to Prepare?

Before submitting any application, prepare these essentials:
1. Company Profile Deck
  • 10–15 slides
  • Services, portfolio, client list
  • Before/after visuals
  • Revenue model
2. Problem & Solution Statement
  • Define a real market gap
  • Present your solution clearly
3. Digital Roadmap
  • Website upgrade
  • SEO strategy
  • CRM / automation tools
  • Optional: AI integration
4. Financial Overview
  • Revenue (last 6–12 months)
  • Cost breakdown
  • Growth projections
5. Compliance Documents
  • SSM registration
  • Business licenses

Phase 2: Start with Easy Grants (Faster & Higher rate for Approval)

Picture
Step 1: MDEC Digital Grant (MADANI)

Provider: Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation

Funding Amount:
Up to RM5,000 (50% matching grant)

Best Use:
  • Website development
  • SEO improvements
  • CRM systems

Strategy Tip:
Treat this as your foundation. A strong digital presence improves your chances for larger grants later.

Step 2: SME Corp Business Accelerator Program (BAP)

Provider: SME Corporation Malaysia

Funding Amount:
Up to RM200,000 (50% matching)

Best Use:
  • Equipment upgrades
  • Production scaling
  • Workflow optimization

Strategy Tip:
Frame your application as:
“Enhancing operational efficiency through digital integration.”

Website >>

Phase 3: Scale with Bigger Grants

Picture
Step 3: MTDC Technology Fund

Provider: Malaysian Technology Development Corporation

Funding Amount:
Up to RM4 million

Best Use:
  • Smart display systems
  • Interactive or AR technology
  • Product innovation

Strategy Tip:
Position your company as transitioning from:
Vendor → Technology-driven solution provider

Website >>
Picture
Step 4: MATRADE Export Grant

Provider: Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation

Funding Support:
  • Overseas exhibitions
  • International marketing

Strategy Tip:
Focus on export-ready offerings such as modular display systems for regional markets like Singapore or the Middle East.

Website >>>

Phase 4: The Grant Stacking Strategy

The real advantage comes from combining multiple grants strategically.

Recommended Flow:
  1. MDEC Grant (RM5K) → Build digital presence
  2. SME Corp BAP (RM100K–200K) → Upgrade Operations
  3. MTDC Fund (RM500K–1M+) → Develop technology
  4. MATRADE → Expand internationally

This approach transforms your business from:
  • Local SME → Scalable, funded company

How to Increase Your Approval Rate?

1. Use the Right Language Include keywords such as:
  • Digitalization
  • Automation
  • Scalability
  • Export readiness

2. Avoid Common Mistakes

❌ Weak statement:

“We want to buy new machines.”

✅ Strong statement:
“We aim to automate production processes to increase output by 40% and expand into regional markets.”

3. Show Clear ROI Example:
  • Current revenue: RM300,000/year
  • Projected revenue: RM800,000/year
  • Export potential: RM1.5 million

Agencies want measurable outcomes. - Bonus: A High-Impact Positioning Idea -

To stand out, position your business as:
“An AI-powered modular exhibition and retail display system provider with rapid deployment capabilities.”

Enhance it with:
  • Online ordering platform
  • Smart LED or interactive displays
  • Export-ready solutions

This shifts your image from:
  • Traditional supplier → Innovation-driven company

My Final Take Reminder Again

SME grants in Malaysia are not just about funding—they are about transformation, Improving and acceleration.

The businesses that succeed are the ones that:
  • Position themselves strategically
  • Start small and scale progressively
  • Align with national priorities like digitalization and export growth
If done correctly, you can unlock not just RM5,000—but potentially RM500,000 or more in funding.

So take your time digest, research before proceeding to "hunt"
